TSOT challenge 491 - Hey Birthday Chick!

I have been wanting to make a slimline card for a long time and just haven’t done it. Well this challenge got me to it, that’s what is great about challenges sometimes they get you doing things that you’ve always wanted to do or they help you to do something that you would’ve never thought to do.

In 2017 Stampin’ Up had a set called Hey Chick in the sale-a-bration catalog it was pretty popular, this year they designed one called Hey Birthday Chick with some images that are similar. This new set is in the Jan.-June mini catalog. Since I got the first set free! (that’s always fun, right!!) I decided to get the new one. Now I have 2 sets that go together oh so well๐Ÿ˜Š.  Just a reminder that it is Stampin' Up's biggest sale of the year.  If you like getting freebies I'd love to help you with that if you don't have a demonstrator. Just leave me a comment with a way of contacting you and I'll help you out. Sale-A-Bration will be over the end of February so don't delay.  I'll add a picture of the 2017 stamp set and card I made back then at the bottom of this posting, they are bringing back this set -available in February- with a die set that cuts the outlines of the birds but also has chicken related dies to go with it. The Hey Birthday chick will also have a die set to go with it also. They will be offered individually or as a bundle and that means saving as all bundles are discounted.  Some of the dies in the 2 sets--Happy Birthday cut out, chicken coup, bag of feed, fence, corn stalk, sign post, chicken wire die, cut off log, chicken eggs...

Thanks for coming and I do hope you'll give this sketch a try, it is such an easy one and can be interpreted so many different ways.

Watercolor Wednesday challenge

Art impressions is a Stamp company that I have enjoyed getting stamps from. They have a wide variety of stamps. If any of you have heard of the stamps called girlfriends they were designed by Bonnie Krebs Art Impressions designer. One style -  line of stamps  she calls watercolor stamps. She has done many videos with them through the years. I have been watching and learning and really enjoy creating with this kind of Stamp. You stamp and then add water and color to make it look like you’ve water colored the picture. All the watercolor stamps coordinate and can be used together no guessing which is oh so nice.  After watching Yesterdays Watercolor Wednesday video Bonnie gave us a challenge. Take the Stone Creek Scene stamp,  widen the creek and use a bridge.  She told us an easy way on how to do that then asked us to make cards to submit to the challenge . She will be making a card doing this on watercolor Wednesday next week on the 27th.  I decided to take up the challenge and give it a try. Here’s a picture of the stamp in its original form and then a picture of the “vision” that I made.

I began with putting down my creek only inking up what I wanted to use in certain places on the picture.  I used a bridge from the set that has 5 different ones.  The cabin is from the lighthouse set.  I wanted my cabin to be turned the opposite direction so I inked it, stamped it on my silicone sheet then turned it over (you can see through it for placement) and rubbed the backside of the silicone sheet and WA-LA my image was reversed.  The new mini foliage set helped add trees and all for the background.

Card Class - Pop-Up Box Card

I have a card class coming up on  the 19th.  I am going to show how to make a pop-up box card that will fit in a 4.25 x 5.5 envelope. If your wanting to send a OH WOW card (you know something that is totally unexpected)  these are fun to make and can be used for any design.  I used some new sets from the Sale-A-Bration and J-J Stampin' Up Mini, Darling Donkeys was a freebie and  Sweet Ice Cream bundle. This bundle comes with a punch that cuts the Ice cream  and the cone separately, the stamp set has 18 stamps, images and sentiments!!   The card really showcases the Designer Series Paper that coordinates with that bundle.  :0)   It's a great time to add to your collection as you can earn free products with every $50 you spend,  there are some Lovely bundles in the Minicatalog.   Just don't wait!! The catalogs will only be good through the end of February.  (In past years this special went through the end of March)

I decided to show a larger version, made this for my Father who I sure would love to see but he's in another state and a nursing home with "Rules" :0(   When my brother had him for Christmas Day and  he had to quarantine for 14 days,  he had no symptoms in that whole time.  I know they are being cautious,  just seems wrong.  We can go see him by appointment in a designated area at the home, 6 ft. apart, masks... No weekend or evening visits makes it hard for someone out of state to see him.  My brother can take him to Dr. apts.  No quarantining after that!   Ok I'm done with my Rant, sorry!! here is the card I made for him.  It took a bit of time cutting all those sea animals, seaweed, shells, and coral out.  It was definitely a labor of love, not one I'd mass produce.

TSOT challenge 489 Freebies Card!!

Decided to use another new set for this card layout. A Touch of Ink is in the SAB catalog and the designer series paper(DSP) called Paper Blooms are what I paired together on this card and they are from the Sale A Bration(SAB) catalog. So I guess you could say that this card  was made with all freebies! I used Rococo rose for the card base it is a lovely color and one that I haven’t used very much.  I took my colors for this card right from the DSP.    Colored the hummingbird with markers. Cut two circles the white one I dotted with night navy.  I needed my hummer facing the other direction so I used my Stamparatus and did the mirror image technique. It’s really easy to do, take your silicone sheet place it in the stamparatus and stamp your hummer on it. If you Ink it and stamp again you will ensure that you have a good Ink coverage on your silicone sheet. Be sure not to move anything so your image will be in the exact same spot, that's the "wonderfulness"๐Ÿ˜Š of the Stamparatus!!!Then turn your silicone sheet over and rub it on your card stock it should imprint nicely. I did this twice so I could fussy cut the wing and pop it out, you probably can’t see that very well in the picture.
Thank you for stopping by, don’t forget it is Stampin’ Up’s biggest sale of the year with the mini catalog coming out and the SAB catalog letting you get free items for your purchase.
I'm a demonstrator so if you are in need of anything and don't have a demonstrator just let me know in the comments below,  I  would love to help you out or answer any questions.  Be sure to check out all the other designers and if you could take a minute and leave a little love through a comment it would be appreciated.
The previous posting was a blog hop that I was a part of. There were 35 of us and if you have a bit of time you could check out some of those wonderful blogs.  Our theme was Something New and most used new products from the J-Jcatalog.
Now it's your turn to make a card using this wonderful layout. ps- I didn't follow the theme on this one - die cuts - didn't use one!  ๐Ÿ˜Œ  The goal is to get you stamping so....... Happy Stamping!

This will be a mix up challenge
Optional Theme: Die Cuts Only

Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop

A new year and a new blog hop the second Saturday of each month. This is going to be so much fun and  I am so hoping I can do this every month. Angie McKenzie does a great job organizing the hop and keeping us all on track! Thanks so much Angie!  Better get yourself a cup of coffee, tea-we have a BIG list of  Stampers joining in on this months hop 35 in all, don't let that stop you from hopping.  If you don't have time to do the whole hop in one sitting then just  do what you can and come back later, we will still be here.
The most important NEW in our lives-- 2 new Granddaughters!  I know these two new little people in our family came in November and December of last year (isn't that close enough?) indulge me and let me show you a picture of them,  2 little cousins, 2 weeks apart. I think they are just adorable and I'm certainly NOT prejudiced.

Meet Hosanna Grace
Hosanna Grace - Dec 10th

Okay now onto my samples, I have been enjoying playing around with this new set  from Stampin' Up  January-June Mini Catalog - Fine Art Bundle. The large flower is a 3- step stamping process so you can get nice depth in the flower.  The set has 9 sentiments and then the large "just want to say" is a die that can be cut out (right card cut in gold), there is a total of 7 cutting dies.  I did not buy the designer series paper so I made my own back ground paper and used some gold flicks of gold shimmer paint.
Simple but I think it's striking.
Another set of cards that I made the background paper for.
Well that's it for now.  If your hopping and get lost the full list is below with all the links attached to the name.  If you click  on the Anne Marie Hile  name beside the next blog badge it will take you to her blog.as she is on the list after me.  Oh have a fun time hopping :0)

TSOT party time

Are you ready for a new year? I am!! Our theme was or rather is party time, How about a birthday party. Our grandson will be seven on January 13. I thought  this theme and layout would go well for a birthday card for him. Are any of you familiar with Karen Burniston dies? That’s what this car it is made out of. It’s the Itty bitty ball pop up. I tried turning it into an ice cream cone, What do you think will he be able to tell that’s what it is?  The strip with the Happy Birthday is a belly band that slides down to hold the "ball" down until the card is opened.  I enjoyed making it. I do hope that you will join us with this sketch. I also used some new Stampin' Up products that are available the 5th I believe. Now is a wonderful Time to get something new as it’s sale-a-bration  time. That means if you order something for $50 you get a free item out of the SAB mini catalog!  Fun fun!

I turned my card because I needed more Height space for the ball ice cream cone, remember you can always flip the card, change a piece to a different shape, it’s your card make it your unique creation!

Thanks for stopping, I’ll look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Homemade DSP

Have you ever made your own DSP paper? I have a few times, there’s a YouTube channel called Artful Stamping with Ruth that I enjoy watching...
