TSOT # 536 Let it Shine

Is kinda hard to believe it’s December already! Are you ready? I’m NOT!!  We’ve had sickness in our home and now my nephew that helps with my mother in law is in the hospital with COVID he’s not doing real well. Your prayers would be appreciated.

This is our last challenge this year and I thought I’d leave you with the most important message I can think of.

Our optional theme is let it shine - Jesus shining light is more important than anything-be one of His shining lights, I plan to be! Letting Him have first place in my life and then sharing that light with others.
Have a great Christmas with family and friends remember to keep Christ in Christmas!!

Optional theme-  Let it Shine
( this will run all month and winners will posted on Try  Stampin on Tuesday website on January 1st)

TSOT # 534 glistening snow

Our theme is what I followed, snow.  I’ve been practicing snow with my Art Impressions stamps and making Christmas cards. You can’t see it in the picture but I’ve added wink of Stella on the snow. So I have a glistening snow card for you.

I’m sure not ready for snow yet but it will come soon, Especially here in Ohio.  Actually we’ve had some already but it didn’t last.

This is the Tuesday before Thanksgiving so I wish you a blessed thankful day. We will be spending it with family on Thursday and again on Saturday.  God bless.

Art impressions

I decided to try CASE’ing a card by Ruthann Plant. She is an Art Impressions watercolor stamper who is just wonderfully talented. I didn’t have all the same watercolor stamps but used what I had.

TSOT 531 pumpkins anyone?

Not sure I followed the theme-vintage or modern??

The merriest moments bundle from the Stampin Up mini catalog is such a nice one! I have had so much fun making cards with it! This is one that shows you that the die needn’t be just used for Christmas.

Thanks for stopping by! We’re coming up to a busy season, don’t forget to save a bit of time for yourself and do a little stamping 😊.

Optional Theme: Vintage or Modern

Stop back by later in the week and I’ll show you a couple more that are not Christmas themed.

Pheasant Hill card 2

Here is the fall colors card. Did you know you could make a card out of tag punches? I started with an 11 x 4 1/4 piece of card stock. I punched the edge with the tag lining up so that the two points would meet when it was folded. The one edge is folded in this makes the back of the card. With it folded in measure to 5 1/2 for the center fold.  The front is not even with the back and you then used ribbon or twine to hold the card closed.

Pheasant Hill card 1

I had card class with my retired apartment complex ladies last week. They always make two cards and enjoy it so much. I like the challenge of putting something together for them that will be lovely yet easy to do in the 2 hours we are together. Sunflowers have been on my mind and fall in general.

TSOT # 529 kitchen items

Oh my, I almost forgot to put this on!! Every Saturday is my baking day. Ask anyone in my family and they will tell you that on Saturday I bake cookies. Our family consisted of four boys so we went through plenty of cookies. As they grew I would put cookies in baggies in the freezer that were only to be used for lunch boxes when they went to work. I am still doing that to this day!

My children all know when they come home there will most likely be cookies in the cookie Tupperware container for them to eat. Most often there is something chocolate in this house, I did not make a chocolate batter in my picture.... maybe vanilla pudding😲😄.   We raise chickens and our eggs are brown so I had to make the eggs brown,  some have speckles on them.

I hope you’ll join us this is a cute theme, and the sketch is pretty easy also.

Happy birthday Carl

I have a ton of male birthday cards that I need for the last quarter of the year. So here’s the one going to brother in law that lives out west. He’s a horse man so this should be good, hope he likes it.

I made it with some Stampscapes and Stamp a Scene stamps that I’ve had for a little while and not used yet.

TSOT #528

Since I last posted there have been three deaths in our family. My sister-in-law who used to help me quite a bit with my wheelchair-bound mother-in-law suffered a stroke four months ago and she passed away. She will be missed so much not only because of her help but because of her smile and the sweet friendship that we shared. Her husband and my husband farm together so this is been the hardest one for me. Some extended cousins that live in Tennessee have passed away also one from COVID and the last one from a car accident.

Seems I’ve been using a lot of sympathy cards lately so I decided that was what I needed to make. I’m not sure what this card is called but it follows the multiple folds theme. Thanks for stopping.

TSOT # 526. Thankful

Well hello, I can not believe that 3/4ths of this year is almost  over. Fall is upon us and here in Ohio the weather has dropped into the low 50’s and upper 40’s.  It’s been rainy also  so it feels colder/at least to me. I love the fall colors and this time of year, but I really don’t mind summer either unless it’s extremely hot and humid and I’m canning🥴.  I bought a bushel and half of Concord grapes to make grape juice. It takes all day to do but really isn’t hard. I ended up with 24 quarts.  I THINK that is the last of the canning. 😊

I’ve been replenishing my children’s card stash and making them interactive.  My “give it a whirl die” has been on my desk and I  decided it would do well with this sketch.  I wanted to make a Thanksgiving or  Christmas card and the thanksgiving won out, what do you think?  The other 2 spots on the wheel  have a pie and a candy apple. I had to alter the mechanism a bit and added a bigger scallop behind the one that came in the die set. I used acetate for the cake stand cover, stamped with white stazon then cut out by hand.

Thank you for stopping in.  If you’d like to have any particulars on this card just leave in the comments and I’ll get back with you.

Art Impressions harvest

If you’re here from tri-stamping on Tuesday, I forgot all about getting a card ready for the challenge today. I think it’s too late to add but I’m going to try.  Sending this as a prayers for you card, so it follows the theme.

I got ready for my Stamp camp that’s coming up on Thursday this morning. Then I decided I wanted to do something fun for myself this evening and I did a watercolor with art impression stamps. Fall is here trees will start changing colors soon apples, pumpkins,  and butternut squash will be ready real soon. My Canning is just about done! :-). Have a lovely day.

TSOT #524 Patterned Paper / DSP

I squeezed out some time to play along this week. I wasn’t sure about this theme of the DSP Paper. I like all the Designer series paper but I don’t find myself using them all that often. So actually this was a good challenge for me 😊.   I guess I just really like Stamping and the only stamping on this card is the sentiment, everything else came from a card kit. I used the BoHo blossom card kit from last year’s catalog it has a lot of designer series paper in the beautiful in-color moonlight madness, it will be retiring next year😕.  Since everything was in the kit I knew it would all go well together so this didn’t take much time at all. That’s one of the nice things about the kits, all the supplies coordinate and you can put together a card fairly quickly. If you are a new stamper that might be the way to get started. It takes all the guesswork out of it trying to figure out if things will look good together. Well I hope you’ll join us on this one. My gardening is coming to an end so I’m hoping I’ll be able to start posting something every week. (That’s my only excuse for not being here so often the last few months🥴)

Merriest Moments Bundle

Decided today to pull out this bundle from the Stampin Up  2021 Holiday mini catalog.   Merriest Moments is a lovely bundle with a lot of bang for your buck.  The stamp set has a layered or not poinsettia, holly leaves, berries, other greenery and sentiments,  dies to cut out the poinsettias and greenery, a stitched rectangle, AND a couple large dies that can be used with an embossing folder.  The big outline one can be used right inside the embossing folder-it will cut and emboss at the same time.  The other one will cut a more detailed version of the embossed piece.

This card shows the embossed and cut piece done together.

This one shows the one that was embossed then detail cut.

Happy Fall...almost

I have been wanting to pull out my Art  Impressions stamps for quite a while now. Yesterday evening I took the time to do just that!!  I followed a tutorial by Bonnie on this one. It’s a 3 x 3 picture I enjoyed doing and would will be making some more. Since fall is right around the corner she added pumpkins in front of the fence and fall colored leaves on the trees.  I love fall, the colors that it brings, the cooler weather, yesterday it felt like fall. I’m learning a lot about perspective and shading from the tutorials of Bonnie and Kendra.

TSOT #521 School Days

Although I don’t have school age children I do have grandchildren so this card will go to one of them.

Do you have more time to stamp/craft after school starts? I would think many mourners would unless they are home schooling.  This is an easy sketch give it a try, the pieces and parts don’t have to be exact. The theme is fun and any child would really appreciate a back to school card. Oh and let’s not forget the teachers if you know one they would love to know they’re thought of and appreciated.

TSOT #

Hello I’m glad you stopped by, we’re all Stamper’s/card markers-it’s what we do and love it. Have I ever told you about my card making ‘love’?😄  I really love to make cards that have moving parts! It’s a challenge to me and a fun surprise to who ever is getting the card! This card fills that urge in me.

I used a new free SAB set on the front of the card-Feels like home. The sentiment on the second panel -pull down section- (both sides) are from the  Sunny Sentiments set in the annual catalog. The pots on what looks like the third panel when pulling it down are from the Plentiful Plants stamp set and DSP ( I fussy cut some images).  I just love how it looks like a simple pull down with the panels and then the one pops up to reveal another space!!

I watched a you tube tutorial to make this, it isn’t really hard. But it would be pretty hard to write out all the directions. Look under this name and title below if your interested in trying your hand at this fabulous card design! I’m going to make some more.

TSOT #518. Let’s go to the ocean!

Well I think I've been adding my posts a little late in the day and they haven't been on the Try Stampin site, so I'm doing this earlier.  If you want to look back at the last couple weeks they are there!

I decided to follow the card sketch and theme this week.   Revisited the Whale Done set for this theme of Ocean.  I made the background with  reinkers,  alcohol, and vellum then ran it through the retired sea waves embossing folder.  the DSP is retired from last year but I still have some and wanted to use it.
I made the book binding card with an explosion piece on the inside.  It is really easy to do, just take a piece of DSP paper - 5 3/4 x 5 3/4  (6x6 is a bit to big)
1.  fold in half, open
2.  turn and fold in half again, open
3.  if you have a piece that needs to go in a certain direction like mine, decide which corners you want to adhere to the card and then fold them corner to corner to form a triangle-
the "corners"  that will be pushed in when the card is folded have the scored diagonal line- fold in both directions.
4. Push the 2  corners with the diagonal score line in while collapsing the other two above and below --
you can see the fold in the picture below
 - I like to add adhesive to one side at a time to secure it inside the card.

Thanks for stopping by     This is an easy fun fold card to make.
Hoping we can get some more participation -  Seems harder to stamp in the summer time and now with school starting back up soon I know many are taking last minute vacations and shopping for school supplies, that's one thing I no longer have to do.  Will your children be back in school or at home again with all that is happening in this world these days.
Have a great day

TSOT #517.Theme: Thank You

Our theme this week is... Thank you

I’ve been thinking lately how getting  a personal thank you card in the mail is so not done anymore and I believe it’s a shame!! Everyone needs a thank you and encouragement for feeling appreciated-a hasty text just doesn’t cut it!! Sending more thank you cards is something I know I need to do, how about you? Here’s a way to get at least one card done for someone who did something special or just IS someone special to you.  The personal touch of making a card is so special.

Sooo let’s get out some supplies and make a card-are you with me😊 ?

I was in the creative mood and decided not to follow the sketch but center the card on the suggested theme. I’ve been playing around with the alcohol blends/Vellum technique for backgrounds and that’s what I used behind the sail boat and lighthouse. If you have any questions on this just leave it in the comments and I’ll try to answer.

Have a lovely day.  Can you believe it’s almost August!!!!?!!!

TSOT # 516 Watercoloring

Outdoor fun, working in flowers!!😊

Hand-Penned Petals

I have always thought the Hand-Penned Petals bundle was lovely. I saw a tutorial on making a card like the blue one, and I decided to CASE it —it is really easy, but looks oh so elegant-At least I think so. The dies in this set cut out the outline of the florals but then they also have detailed cuts and they are just lovely when used.

The background was made by 1.stamping randomly with the versamark pad and white heat embossing. 2. take an acrylic block and smash the ink onto it, add a bit of water with your aqua painter and paint the flowers/leaves - what you choose.  The blue one had the flowers painted (CASED card) and the green had the leaves 😄 I guess you can see that! Mixing the water with the ink allows for a softer shade and not so uniform-some lighter and some darker shades.

Maybe you’ll give this a try, I’m glad I did and I have a few other sets I’d like to use.

TSOT #514 - Ribbons & Lace

All right I guess I need to tell you right up front, I’m not much of a ribbon person when it comes to putting that on cards. I don’t know why maybe because when you tie a bow it makes a knot (depending on the ribbon weight and width). I have some ribbon but I don’t usually buy a lot of new, what I used here is a narrow one that is really light weight and made a pretty small knot.  I enjoy Crocheting lace doilies with fine thread I guess that’s why this stamp set that jumped out at me. I’ve been wanting to use it for a long time and just have had other things I needed to do. For this challenge I decided this is the set, and especially these dies! The only thing I’ve stamped on this card are the sentiments. Why don’t you give this challenge a try we’d love to see what you would make.

Here is the card sketch and the suggested theme for the card you will make for us to enjoy how you interpret it.

Alcohol markers and vellum technique

I was playing around with Stampin up alcohol blends and vellum for an upcoming class.  This is a wonderful technique giving you lots of different backgrounds. I decided to try my hand at patriotic one since it was the Fourth of July.

Happy fourth and God bless America

TSOT challenge 513 Gardening

Hello everyone it is so good to get back into card making for try Stamping. I know haven’t been around this month, our family has had a lot going on. My sister-in-law who helps me out is still in the hospital, and my aunt passed away.

I’ve done a little bit of Stamping but to be truthful with you it has been a necessity for card classes.

When I checked out the challenge for this coming week I thought oh I have some bits and pieces on my desk that I think I could use on this card. Gardening let’s see I'm taking the liberty to stretch that thought a little bit - how about gardening with a green thumb in the house. House plants need taken care of, maybe not as much as a garden but they do need care. I am a big gardener, that’s one another reason why I haven’t been Stamping. My peas have gone bonkers this year. I picked 2 1/2 -  5 gallon bucket fulls one day this week. Let me tell you that’s a lot of peas to pick in one day! I don’t think I’ve ever gotten that many. I ended up with 43 cups of peas Which I blanched and then put in the freezer.

OK enough about me here’s my card, I do hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at it. be sure to check out all the other designers I had a sneak peek at some and they are great!!
