A stenciled background for Try Stampin' challenge #361

Hello all, we have almost completed a third of this year - 2018!! I can hardly believe it, but I'm so ready for spring!  We will be welcoming a new grandchild into the family soon and are excited to meet this little person.  My life lately has been staying close to home to I can be available to watch, big brother and sister when the time comes.  Do you have any big and exciting events/happenings coming your way?

My card for this challenge is one I made after scrolling through some YouTube channels I like to watch.  Have you ever watched Jennifer McGuire?  She is an extremely talented stamper and has an YouTube channel that is great as she shows a technique and then a BUNCH of cards made with it.

For this card I used a stencil  and sponged over it with a tone on tone (same color card stock and ink), turned the stencil and sponged again. Finished it by turning the stencil again and this time sponging with a pigment white.  It doesn't show real well in the picture but it is REALLY neat looking I have a few other samples that I tried out (haven't turned into cards yet) and will put them at the end of this posting.  I was really pleased with this card and like that way it turned out, kept it simple as I didn't want to take away from the background.

Stamp set:   (old but loved this one!)- Long Stemmed Flowers (Stampin' Up)
sentiment from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps - this is new to me and has 13 similar sayings that I really like!!
Card Stock - Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Ink- Wild Wasabi, Craft White, Daffodil Yellow stamp pads
Accessories - Aqua painter, Wink of Stella, stamp dimensionals, white embossing powder, heat gun, ribbon

thanks for stopping in, be sure to share a card you've made with us, we really like seeing what you've come up with, you have two weeks! Here is the card sketch to follow but only if you desire to. If you get to working on your card and something else strikes you to add, delete....please don't hesitate to share with us. What we really desire is for our challenges to inspire you to stamp!  Our theme if you want to use it is  -   Thinking of you

Watercolor stamp set # 2

CASE card from a Youtube video :0)  (Youtube - Beary Wishes)

I haven't been posting as much since we have our third grandchild due any day and I've been helping by taking the big brother and sister so mama can rest.  We did have a false alarm this past Ttuesday and I picked them up and had them all night and the next day. Daddy came and got them Wed. evening and we still don't have a baby!  I have them now but they are napping   :0)

Thought I'd add a couple more cards I did with the terrific Watercolor stamp set that is in the Occasions catalog - I do hope this set makes it into the big 2018-19 main catalog that will be coming out in June. That is only two months away!!
Hope your having a good weekend why don't you stamp a little for me since I won't be doing that with two little ones.
I need to practice a bit on this one.

TSOT challenge #360 Easter

It is mid-March and we will soon be celebrating Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday therefore our theme for this two weeks will be Easter.  I chose a card for celebrating the risen Jesus, my Savior and Lord. I did not follow the card lay out on this, as you know it isn't a requirement for entering our challenges. I do hope you'll join the challenge - the card layout and or the theme.  We would love to see a card from many of you.

TSOT Challenge #359

Happy early Saint Patrick's Day I know that's not till Sat, on the 17th.  Our suggested theme for this one is Green and I thought that was probably due to St. Patrick's Day.  I did use green but it isn't a true green. I used my color burst to do this background and thought it had enough green in it for this challenge. I mounted it on Lemon Lime Twist which is an In-Color in the Stampin' Up catalog. If you look closely at the background you'll see that I ran it through my big shot with the layered leaves embossing  folder.  Water colored the flower which is from the Lots of Happy Card Kit in the 2018 Occasions Catalog. I wish many of you would join us on our challenges, and if you do tell a few friends about us also.  We would love more participation!!  We've branched out to Instagram and also have a Pinterest page.  Let others know we are here and that we have a fun challenge every week that runs for two week so that gives you lots of time to make a card.  See you at Try Stampin' on Tuesday

Tic Tac Tuesday #2

I enjoy this challenge, it gives you some guidelines but freedom also.  I had so much fun that I made a few cards and then had to decide which one to use! Here is the one I decided on I'll post a few of the others at the bottom of this posting.

I used a stamp set from the Sale A Bration catalog- Love You Still, have you had the chance to look at all the goodies in that one?  There were so many that I liked and I had to pick and choose which ones to get.  I thought this would be a nice one as it was a bit different than any in my stash.
To make it I inked it up with early espresso avoiding the grassy area at the base of the arch. You won't see in this picture I also have turned the arch on it's side.   I then cleaned the stamp and inked it again just putting ink on the top half where the flowers are then lined up the "posts" and stamped to make a flowered frame.  This will be much easier when my stamparatus arrives, I'm anxiously awaiting!!  I cut it out and adhered to a piece of wood textures DSP, then bordered that onto early espresso card stock then onto sweet sugarplum card stock base that I had stamped and then ran through the big shot with the leaf embossing folder.  The sweet sugarplum is a light purple and I used  fresh fig to color the big flowers on the frame, added calypso coral to give a little pop.
                  Tic Tac Tuesday

This card could follow two paths, bottom left to upper right - purple-flowers-glitter- glitter glue accent on flowers doesn't show up.   the middle down - coloring-flowers-scallops  cut frame sorta has a scallop shape from the flowers don't you think?)  Thanks for stopping by don't forget to check out the other goodies I made and the other designers cards.  Have a happy day and do something that relaxes you and makes you happy - for me stamping is one of my favorites, how about you?

March Technique - Embossing

Hello all, we here at TSOT have another technique for you, it will run for the whole month of March!!!
Let's all get a little "bossy"  and do some embossing.  :0)   If you don't know how to emboss please, please, please go to the Try Stampin on Tuesday page to find detailed directions on how this wonderful addition to stamping is done.   Chris is our teacher and she has done a wonderful job with her instructions.

I have done both types of embossing on this - heat embossed the anchor and the anchor ahoy banner.
The background is dry embossed and I used some color burst to add character to the water area. (color burst is the same type of powder as the brusho that Stampin' Up now sells)

You might look at this card and say - OH that is a lot of fussy cutting!!!!  But let me tell you a secret - I didn't!!!  Last year I purchased a Scan n Cut so I could quickly cut out stamped images that didn't have die cuts to match. Yes it was a bit pricey but I felt it was worth it (and I just had to do something with all the $$ I made from working so much). Now I can cut out any image that I can stamp and that puts a happy face on me.  (The machine actually cut all the images in about 2 minutes.)  Thanks for stopping by if I can be of any help or answer any questions you might have just leave it in the comments and I'll get back with you.    Should I get "bossy"?   Go get to embossing a card and join us!!!   please.  :0)

Homemade DSP

Have you ever made your own DSP paper? I have a few times, there’s a YouTube channel called Artful Stamping with Ruth that I enjoy watching...
