Recycled birthday wrapping!

I used my image for a birthday gift I made then realized that I didn't follow the theme needed for yesterdays challenge at Creative Card Crew, Since it was done and I thought it turned out cute  I wanted to show you!! This was made for a wonder sister that I visited in Florida (hey Beth!!!) in March (had to keep picture till now).
Made from a tin can, when you want to use a tin can for a gift you need to open the opposite end with a can opener the kind that actually divides and takes off the whole end ,  I know some ends are rounded and  you can't anymore so you have to be picky as to which one you use.     Be sure and empty your tin can :) ha ha ha  make something yummy with the contents.(you wouldn't have room for your gift if you didn't: tee hee)      Wash well and leave to dry.        Decorate the tin (so the pull tab in on the bottom) in your own special way for the recipient. Be sure to make a top decoration for after you put your gift in and close it up.        After the decorating is done put your gift inside and then use a strong liquid glue to adhere the end that you  used a can opener to take off.  I often use TOMBOW mullti liquid glue a glue gun works also.      When the gift is given many just look at it trying to figure out how you filled and reused it, it is fun and a way to recycle all those tin cans that are used in the kitchen.     I also used tin cans for my flower arrangements that I made a couple years ago when I had a reception for my Son and Daughter-in-law. Just looked back and I guess I've never posted a picture come back tomorrow and see the Lovely center pieces that my friend Carole and I made.  NOW remember the base is a simple tin can. Try you hand at this fun type of wrapping for a package, I'd love to hear your comments or see a special wrapped package you made.

Fancy Fold Birthday

Challenge 86 with Creative Card Crew will be Fancy Folds this time.
Oh I really enjoyed trying to decide which fancy fold to use their are so many different ones.  I choose one that I have never used before so you'll have to let me know what you think.

Prize: #12 Gift Voucher

Here is the front of the card, I know you're saying hey that looks like an ordinary card, but WAIT  the fancy part is inside.  (smiling)
Stair Steps!!!  5 of them - they fold inward so the card will close.

Close up below; I think you can see that the letters are thick, I made them out of colored (reinker added to it) clay from Stampin' Up and their new Alphanumeric Mold.  I stamped on the letters to give a little design to them after they were dry then put crystal effects over them to make them shiny.  I colored and cut extra balloons to decorate the inside, what birthday celebration doesn't need LOTS of balloons.  The orange strip on the right is washi tape same as what I used on the front of the card and finishing the orange color that I used throughout the card.  You can find many different tutorials for similar cards 3 & 4 steps some facing the opposite way on Pinterest.  Thanks for stopping by, I sure would love to hear what you think of my fancy fold for this months challenge and hope you'll play along with your own fancy fold.

A Mix up...the old and the new!

A dear sister-in-law called this morning and while we chatted on the phone I made this card for her!!  (hey Gloria)   :0)     I combined two challenge sites:  Just us Girls and  Shopping our Stash
Just us Girls #289     I added the Green and I hope I'm forgiven for adding just a hint of yellow for the three flowers.

Shopping our Stash  #198  they wanted us to add texture and do so by using something from our oldest embossing stash.  Do you remember the old light table - that's how we dry embossed years ago.  I can even remember when I had no light table and would tape everything on the window so the light source would be behind what I was doing.  Course I could never do that real early or late in the evening when the sun wasn't up and come to think of it it was hard to do on rainy cloudy days also,  which was the best time to stamp when living on a working farm and raising 4 active boys!!!   I used part of an old plastic stencil and  then added a little color to the fence with my finger and ink...   did your parents ever tell you: fingers where made before forks?    Well I say it different when in my craft room.... Fingers were made before sponges!!  ha  ha  I wanted to get the brown on only the fence and a sponge was to big so alas I used my finger.
 Well now that you've heard me ramble here is my Vision;

The old with the plastic stencil embossed with an old light table and the new are some Impression Obsession dies.  I used a small piece of designer paper from Stampin' Up to add another pop of green.  I believe that is it, what do you think?    I hope you have a good day and stop by the two challenge sites and be inspired to add one of your own.

I made this card when I was with my friend Carole and when it was done I knew it would be for my sister Kelly.  My sister Kelly is a witty person and keeps us supplied with poems, they are fun and often make us laugh.  Thanks you Kelly for all your poems and I just want you to know that I love you, my sister kelly who has jelly in her belly!!!!  :0)

Triple challenge card

I decided to do some stamping at the end of this day.  Saturdays are often busy here on the farm and I don't usually stamp much.  I combined three challenges and that is a first for me.  First i was looking at The Card Concept Challenge #33- they had a picture for the inspiration and that is were I got my colors from.  Then I checked out the Pals Paper Arts #248 challenge and picked up my sketch.  Lastly I looked at the Just Add Ink #259 challenge and they challenged us to use sequins.  So there you have it my Triple Challenge card.
The Card Concept challenge has categories to pick from for the cards made I thought mine fell under this one....                           Free Style Collage
Everything is from Stampin' Up

Colors:  Smokey Slate and Strawberry Slush(this one will be retiring in June) Basic black, Garden Green
Stamp sets:  People Like You (single stamp)  Hello Love (hostess set until June), Work of Art
Sequins from the 2014 Holiday catalog, Decorative Label punch, Dots and Stripes decorative masks, retired ribbon, Sweet Taffy DSP

The dots I sponged with the smokey slate, same as the base of the card but in the picture they have a greenish cast???  why??? I sure don't understand it.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my Vision on my Triple challenge card.

Pheasant Hill Stampers

Had my class with the Pheasant Hill Stampers, I really liked these 2 ha ha I guess I really like all the ones I do for them.  They are usually a little bit more simple and I often use retired stamps for them.  They absolutely love using embossing folders so I try to incorporate that into at least one of the cards.  I had a new lady this time and that is always nice.  Spring is in the air full force so I made cards with that theme in mind.
Entered this first card into 3 challenges:  The card concept # 33  They inspired my colors, they also have categories to pick from for your card style and I was looking at 2 different ones for this not sure which I'd choose:   Clean and Layered or Classy and Elegant  which do you think?    I also entered this into the Just Add Ink#259 they wanted you to use sequins.  Lastly I added this to the Pals Paper Arts #248 sketch challenge.
I don't think you can see it in the picture but we added crystal effects over the tulips to give them a shine and make them Pop off the page, they really liked it.
                                                       Flip card front

doubled up on Friday

Hey there it is Friday!!!  don't we all love it when that day rolls around, I know I do.  This afternoon I decided to play in my craft room for a bit, the sun is shining outside, the weather is wonderful, and there are NO rain clouds in the sky!!  We have been having a lot of little rains and that has really greened everything up and the flowers are blooming.  I have to admit that I just love the first flowers of the season!   I guess that's why the challenge over on the Stampin' Celebration  caught my eye!  They had a picture to get all our juices a -flowing.  I then paired it up with the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Love this one, simple and yet oh so much freedom,
I really wanted to use some more of the Irrestibly Yours DSP that Stampin' Up had in the         Sale-A-Bration catalog.  I loved  all the patterns and have a couple packs to keep me going for a while, I wouldn't be shocked if they came out with another pattern pack in the new catalog (June!!!) Thanks for stopping by and checking out my vision.  I hope you will be inspired to try your hand at a challenge, there are so many out to try.  Have a great weekend!

Anniversary Card 28 years!!!

Our challenge at Creative Card Crew this time is : Sentiment.  I made this especially for my husband of 28 years!!   He is a Wonderful Husband and a great father to our 4 sons, 1 daughter-in-law, and our first grandson!  It isn't the normal anniversary card but for my farmer husband I thought he would like it.  I hope you will let me know what you think of my unusual anniversary card.
Our challenge sponsor this time is:

Prize: 3 Digis

I decided to use their file called Jan's Wedding Day  It has quit a few images but I went with an overlay and the  I Corinthians 13 sentiment.  We live on the homestead/ farm that David's relatives built in 1900 and to honor that I made a barn scene as a background.  I printed the words on a speckled Vellum that I've had for years and  stamped and sponged the scene that I put behind.

Retiring colors 2013-2015

It is always just a little bit sad when it comes time to say goodbye to the In Colors that are retiring! Yet on the other hand we will be getting 5 new colors to create with I wonder what they will be?!!
I have a double challenge card for you today, I took the sketch from the Sketch Frenzy Friday and the colors from the Paper Players 240 color challenge.  The 3 colors chosen are from the 2013-2015 In Colors;  Strawberry Slush, Costal Cabana, and Pastachio Pudding.

I made 2 cards, the first(shown at the end of this post)  had a non stampin up embossing folder and then I decided to use just one stamp set for my card to enter. It seem like as a demonstrator with quite a few supplies at my fingertips that I don't often use just one stamp set to make a card and that is what I wanted to challenge myself to do.  As I look at this more I'm wondering if  I should have used an embossing folder on the large white background panel.  maybe the spring flowers one from the  occasions catalog?
Which one do you like?  Leave me a comment, I love hearing what others think of my Visions.
Supplies;
Cardstock:  Costal Cabana, Pastachio Pudding, Whisper White
Ink:  Pastachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush, Basic Black
Accessories;  Corner rounder, 1 1/4 Punch, Artisan Label Punch, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, blender pens, sponge dauber

Here is the 2nd card; I used the same layout just flipped the placement of the pieces so it fit my sizzix embossing folder. I'm not sure I really like the strawberry slush ribbon the the side, really wanted to use pastachio but I didn't have any.  maybe this would look better with the costal also, what do you think?

National Sibling Day

Today is National Sibling Day!!   I have 4 siblings; 3 sisters and one brother.  Now this stamp that I found is of 4 ladies and so that was  myself and 3 sisters.  I'm wondering :f my brother can pick which is which when he gets his card!!     :0)
I made 5 of these one for each of my siblings and one for my father who provided me with all those siblings!!  I made each a little different with the color on the couch.  Recently we were all able to make a long trip to visit the sister in Florida and had a great time together, one we'll never forget!  I love you all!!    Vernon, Kathleen, Kelly, and Beth  yes you also my Father!!!

Love card!!

I have three younger sisters and I Love them so much.  One of my sisters lives in Florida and that is a LONG way away from where the rest of us are at (within 150 miles of each other!) Today I was trying to be creative while they were all texting and being silly!!  I wanted to send Bethy an encouragement card and was looking at some of the challenges that I enter every now and then.  This is what I came up with and it will be entered into the  Just Add Ink challenge they had a picture with colors, and TSSC 360 challenge was a bold sentiment.  Thanks for stopping by have a Great Day and send someone who lives far away from you a little love.
Added to another challenge called Just Us Girls #287 word week and Spring

To have and to hold...

Big News with Stampin' Up:  they are offering free shipping on any size order for the week.  If you are in need/want anything you can contact me through my gmail  - vmilyard@gmail.com  I'd love to be your demonstrator or a help in any way I can be, questions on something you've seen here or other places just ask and I'll do my best to help you.
Well I thought I'd better get some other visions posted...I made this card for a wedding that we were unable to go go.  The side of the Congratulations has a pull our where I tucked in a monitary gift for the new couple.  I was pleased with it...the top photo shows the card open, it was an easel card. The bottom card is a close up of the front.  I used a retired Stampin' Up set and a spellbinder die for the decorative oval.  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by Vicki's Visions.
