Fishy Birthday

Here’s another birthday card for another little boy that turned three. He had a Scooby Doo birthday party. I have no Scooby Doo stamps, so he had to get a fishy birthday card. His grandma and grandpa live by the lake and they like to go out on the pontoon boat and

sailboat I’m sure he will learn to love the water as much as they do. So I made a fishy, what do you think about it? I’ve used another one of my Karen Burniston dies they are fun to use but they do cost more to send it in the mail. Well that’s all right you only turn three once!

Sailing with TSOT Challenge 409 Double Trouble Team Up

Hello and I’m so glad you’ve come to join me today for this next try Stampin' on Tuesday card sketch. Since we’re joining with Double Trouble for this optional theme of brown bag I decided to use a new stamp set that I had just received.  I turned the sketch so I could use two of the images, the sailboat and the lighthouse. I fussy cut the sails and popped them up on the main focal image of the sailboat not sure you can tell in the picture.  I also used one of the new in-colors, the blue panel the light house is on it's called Seaside Spray (I LIKE!!) and it pairs up with Night of Navy wonderfully. The Dots are also new and come in the new in-colors, I’m also thinking I should switch my dots at the bottom so that they’re going from smaller to larger like the beam of light coming from the lighthouse, what do you think? When I sponged the light beam I guess I didn't have a big enough piece and my dauber went off - do you think I should have started over?  I may go back onto the sailboat piece and color the bottom of the sailboat when I find out what color my brother-in-laws boat is.  It was fun one to play with and I know I’ll be wanting to use it more later.
If you didn’t come from the main blog - this is a direct link - TSOT   be sure you go over and check out all the other designers cards they are quite lovely.
thank you and have a great day and happy Stamping.

We are teaming up with Double Trouble for this challenge and we are celebrating National Brown Bag it Day. This means that for the optional challenge and allow you to participate in both challenges please use some kraft or other brown bag like paper.

Turning 2 —great!!!

My husband and I both came from big families, so we now have a lot of great nieces and nephews. This card was made for a little one who turned 2

two on the 17th it was fun to make. Making cards like this that have a lot of bulk in the middle of them cost a good bit more to mail though.

TSOT Challenge 408

Do you like interactive cards?  that is another type of card I really like to make.   I guess I've said that a lot lately. I suppose there isn't any kind of card I don't enjoy making.😊

You tube and pinterest  are so very nice to learn new ways to make cards.  I saw a card made like this on you tube by Dawn's stamping thoughts - I think that is it - just looked and that is it.   It fits this weeks sketch pretty well so I'm using it.
Bokeh background and a flip flap on the front to reveal another message!!  You can see the added pull tab on the right side of my card.

I believe I have all the layers the sketch has just in a different order.

Challenge 407 Sun set beauty

Both, I did both!!  at least the way I see it. 😊
I love to make one layer cards with sponging and masking.  That is what I've done on this card .  I masked off the sun and then used the glycerin sponging technique. I have heard of 2 different ways to do this.  On this card I put down a layer of glycerin on the whisper white card stock with a sponge then added all the colors on top of that.  It really helps the colors to go on smoothly and easily, they also blend really nice!!!   the second way I've heard to do this is to put a drop or two of glycerin on a stamping acrylic block and add the color of ink to the block with stamp pad/marker. Mix on the block then add to the card with your choice of sponges/make-up brushes.  I've also made a card with this in the past not sure which I like the best.  I suppose putting the glycerin down first allowed me to add many small amounts of color - as in the sky- without using so many different blocks.

oh dear just looked at card again and it is not a one layer!!  I've mounted it up -- guess I was thinking of the focal image having no layers on it. 😉
